Name
Echinopsis subdenudata

Origin
The Entre Rios province, in Bolivia, South America. The Easter Lily Cactus forms an almost spineless columnar stem up to 8 feet high with a spread of 3 feet. The body is deeply ribbed and has thick, matte green skin.

Nomenclature
Echinopsis is generally known as the ‘Sea Urchin cactus’ or ‘Easter lily cactus’.

Discussion
Echinopsis is a large group of beautiful cacti native to the southern regions of South America. Species within this genus range from very small and globular to tall columns reaching to heights of 30 feet or more. The come in a wide variety of sizes and colors and many produce large blossoms in an array of colors. The genera Lobivia and Trichocereus were recently added to the genus Echinopsis along with Helianthocereus, Soehrensia and Pseudolobivia. It now contains around 120 species of South American cacti.
