Origin
Southern Brazil, and especially the environs of Rio de Janeiro. Also found in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Nomenclature
Cereus is Latin for “candle”.

Discussion
This is one of the most popular cacti in the world, and grows easily in Tucson to thirty feet or more. Among the common names of this cactus are Hedge Cactus, and Queen of the Night
